Ilse Moore from GingerAle Photography said: “To say that Leandré and D’niel’s personalities are infectious is a huge understatement… They are playful and uninhibited and they absolutely adore each other. They chose to get married at the wonderful Green Leaves at Hartebeespoort dam, the perfect spot for romance, loads of beautiful details and a solid party!” Motion Craft Films is sharing their incredible wedding film with us today of this beautiful wedding. I Propose | Elaborate on how the two of you met
D’niel and I met five and a half years ago at my family’s business. After a few weeks of date and movie nights we realized that there was a magical attraction and we started dating officially.
On Saturday, 2 February 2013 he took me to the Farm Inn in Pretoria for a relaxing day of fun. When we got there, the staff said that they had our booking wrong. Meanwhile, it was a ploy for them to get the ring from D’niel. He had organized a private game drive just for the two of us as we both love wildlife and enjoy game drives. They took us to see all the amazing animals, including different wildcats and lions. When we arrived at the watering hole I realized there was a picnic set up just for us. We got off and enjoyed the lovely food, champagne and scenery. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, a “bakkie” arrived, stopping right there and I still thought how rude these people were, but the very next moment they took the most beautiful cheetah out of the back. She was breathtaking. I thought D’niel had merely planned our own private session with the cheetah, but when she come closer I saw she had a ribbon around her neck and there it was – my ring. I looked at D’niel and saw he was already on his one knee. Before I knew it, tears were streaming down my face and my hands were shaking like crazy. He looked me in the eyes and asked me to be his wife. I just said “Yes!”
Bride & Prejudice | Express some memorable experiences you had during the planning
We said our vows which we had written ourselves and that was awesome and very special to us – we plan to frame the papers we wrote for that day and hang it up to be remembered forever. I will never forget D’niel’s face when I called him on his pet name (“Sexy Boudtjies”) in front of everybody. He never blushes, but in that moment he just started laughing and became as red as a tomato. Another unforgettable moment was the father and daughter dance – my father and I danced first and then he handed me over to D’niel. It was so special – I was full of emotion as I felt like a five-year-old girl looking at her dad as her Hero for the first time. The moment the dance floored opened with all my friends and University friends dancing with me, I had a moment where everything felt just perfect. Awesome wedding, awesome people, awesome day.
My Fair Wedding | Describe an event that you feel was unique
Our wedding day was so special, as everybody who has ever made an impact on us was there. The tables were decorated with old books that were sourced personally from antique shops, beautiful tea cups and a picture of D’niel and me from our engagement shoot with GingerAle Photography. We had the amazing saxophone player – Rike- who entertained our guests with beautiful jazz music while we were busy taking photos. Chrystalace made all our stunning wedding stationery and even helped make our own love journal that we gave out at the reception to keep the guests entertained. Green Leaves, our venue, was very accommodating and really helped to make the day unforgettable. The day would have not been perfect if it weren’t for Vannessa and Merieke from Eventageous, Ilse and Sean from GingerAle Photograhy and Andre and his lovely fiance from Motion Craft Films who captured all our dreams and helped make it a reality. It was a day that D’niel and I will never forget.
Don’t Tell The Bride | Reveal something that happened behind the scenes
I was half an hour late to my own wedding and it wasn’t due to anything I did. My sister-in-law’s children were part of the church ceremony. Wilke forgot the plug for the curling iron at home and sent her husband and brother to go and buy one. They got caught up and lost track of time. At the time the wedding was supposed to start, she only began with her hair, delaying the ceremony and making all the guests wait for half an hour. I didn’t realize a thing as nobody told me what the time was, so when I walked down the aisle I thought everything was perfectly on time… if I only knew :)
