Scott and Anne’s love story started out as childhood friendship and took them halfway around the world. They tied the knot at the Cape Point Vineyards, surrounded by friends and family who have been part of their journey. Congratulations to the happy couple! Today we are featuring their beautiful wedding, submitted by Vizion Photography and Films.
Lovebirds | How did you two meet?
Scott and I had known each other as toddlers as our parents were, and still are, best friends. Scott and his family left South Africa for Australia in 1990, but we remained closed friends over the next 15 years as our families traveled the world together.
We lost touch for nearly ten years, but Scott’s mother and sisters came to SA for a holiday and mentioned that Scott wanted to come also. So, out of the blue I messaged Scott on Face Book and we began discussing a future holiday to SA. We spoke for months, moved to Skype and talked almost daily for many months. From there, I guess the rest is history.
I said Yes | How did the proposal go down?
After many, many months of talking I went on a 3 month holiday to Australia. Scott and I rekindled our wonderful friendship from many years ago. At the end of the three months, Scott flew back to SA with me to have the SA holiday we had planned.
We arrived at Tintswalo Private Game Lodge and spent a magical 4 days in the Kruger. It so happened that the second last day was Valentines day. We had a private romantic candle lit dinner and after the amazing meal, just as I was finishing my dessert, Scott, to my absolute shock got down on one knee and told me he’d found the woman he must live with forever.
The Big Day | What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
Our wedding was so memorable as it was not only Scott and my special day, but our families had nearly 40 years of history already. Scott and I stood in the church and we looked out to our family and friends that we had grown up with, watching us celebrate the most special and amazing day of our lives.
To see so many friends and family together all in one beautiful setting to celebrate such a wonderful occasion by far is what stays with me each and every day.
Describe your wedding day in one sentence
A day that showcased love, friendship, family and what it means to celebrate each of these pillars of happiness.
Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides?
I believe that the cliche of “try to enjoy your special day” is absolutely spot on. It is so important to step back and soak in all that is happening around you. Look at your friends and family as they dance and talk and enjoy the smiles and laughter. The day really does go quickly.
I must also mention a comment made by our wonderful Wedding Planner, Nicola. “No matter what happens on the day, everyone around you believes that what happens is exactly how it is meant to be and it is perceived to be perfect”. This comment alone took away so much worry and stress about the concept of having a ‘perfect day’.
