Nicolene & Dewaldo recently invited their friends and family to join them for their commitment day on a farm near Merweville, a Karoo town with immense character and history. Nicolene executed an inspirational quirky approach to her day, and to do all of this on a farm in the middle of nowhere must have been a true challenge. Hayley Takes Photos captured their special day and she was the perfect choice for this kind of wedding. This wedding is soft on the eye and everyone will find it inspirational. Enjoy it with us!
I Propose | Elaborate on how the two of you met.
Dewaldo has been friends with my sister and her husband for a long time. Whe’ve been at
mutual gatherings, but we were never formally introduced, and both of us were in other
relationships at the time. In the beginning of 2013 we were both single and started
communicating over facebook. Soon we realised it’s not only our birthdays that we have in common. Our first date went from breakfast to lunch to dinner, and the rest is history.
I said Yes | How did the proposal go down.
I expected a proposal, and therefor Dewaldo proposed in a very unexpected manner. He had the ring for four hours, and could not wait longer. When he arrived from work – he went down on one knee and asked if I wanted to be his “vroutjie”. My immediate answer was YES!
The Big Day | Tell us the most memorable moment of your wedding day.
When I walked down the isle and saw Dewaldo for the first time since the previous evening. And later the evening at the reception, Christo (from Christo and Cobus) called Dewaldo to the stage to sing “Heidi” to me. Funniest moment of the day!
I Quote | Describe in one sentence your wedding day.
More amazing than I imagined and everything I dreamed of.
Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides.
Don’t try to do everything yourself. Delegate and relax. Try to make mental notes of every
moment on the day, and enjoy it.
