We have a beautiful ‘Just Hitched’ Feature for you today on Wedding Friends. Top Photographer Retha Wepener from Firefly Photography is sharing this incredible wedding shoot with us today. The couple is sharing their love story with us.
I Propose | Elaborate on how the two of you met
Well …Werner and I(Rozanne) both have an unquenchable love for our Saviour Lord Jesus Christ and for music. Werner, believe it or not, is 3 years younger than me and we met at church, playing in the worship band. Werner plays the guitar and drums and I play the keys and do vocals. When we first met I was most intrigued by his gentle heart. Our friendship and our common values and beliefs were the foundation to the successful building of a beautiful love relationship. We are best friends.
Bride & Prejudice | Express some memorable experiences you had during the planning
We are not typical fairytale-wedding-idealists. We desired an intimate, smaller wedding with guests who are close knit to our hearts. When it came to actually inviting all of our closest friends, this same sentiment seemed a bit impossible as wedding numbers have the strange tendency to grow very rapidly. We dreamed about a down to earth wedding, without frills and fuss but with rock solid values.
My Fair Wedding | Describe an event that you feel was unique
We found that our wedding day actually ran by very quickly. It felt like if you blinked too long, you may have missed it. Not being able to see one another before the big moment of saying yes, not being able to exchange feelings and thoughts and then suddenly appearing in grand apparel definitely is a peculiar concept … teeheehee … in fact, kind of weird. But absolutely memorable. Entering the chapel, having the privilege to share our most special moments with all of our closest friends and family, was a blessing.
Don’t Tell The Bride | Reveal something that happened behind the scenes
When I was ready to enter the chapel, literally minutes before, I realized that we had forgotten Werner’s ring at home! Yikes! Fortunately home was only 5 minutes away from the venue … resulting in me being fashionably ‘late’. Who in any case knows of an early bride? An early bird maybe … not a bride though. :)
No More Wedding Woes | Share your wedding advice for future brides
We believe that the essence of getting married is to remember that you are vowing to God to be faithful to your wife/husband and to love them until death do you part. That marriage is not based on the shallow kind of love, but a deep and enduring love that in truth becomes stronger through hardships and covers one another’s weaknesses and failures. The beauty of such love is having confidence your relationship, always being accepted and supported, being who you truly are, living your dreams and fulfilling your purpose and learning how to love unconditionally. The frills and wedding fancies sure are beautiful and absolutely memorable – but may they be a reminder to us of the true core of that special promise – When we said “I do”.
