Today we are sharing Marcel and Bianca’s special day with you, beautifully captured by Adele Kloppers. We love the little DIY details of this intimate wine estate wedding. Congratulations, guys!
Lovebirds | How did you two meet?
We worked together for quite some time and Bianca was completely oblivious to the fact that I liked her… after many months of subtle gestures, Marcel decided he needed to be less subtle just tell it like it is. Bianca was completely caught off guard, and would later (very modestly) admit that she thought she was out of his league. But she did admit that the feeling was mutual. The romantic gestures did not stop there, and as they say, the rest is history.
I said Yes | How did the proposal go down?
Marcel was living in Cape Town at the time and I was visiting for the weekend. We went wine tasting at Asara Wine Estate, as one does in Stellenbosch. And he surprised me with dinner on the balcony. And a proposal. Little did I know that I flew from Pretoria with my engagement ring in a gift bag that I thought was a Mother’s Day present meant for a family friend of Marcel’s mom. He had the ring made in Pretoria and needed to get it to Cape Town. It was an unreal surprise and will always be one of the happiest days of my life.
The Big Day | Tell us the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
As we moved to Cape Town nearly 2 years ago, it was so special to have all our family and friends together again. It meant the world to us that everyone shared this special day with us. We planned, sourced and executed almost all the elements of our wedding, and it was amazing to see everything come together in one big joyous celebration.
I Quote | Describe in one sentence your wedding day
A day full of love, laughter, friends and dancing.
Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides
There are many elements of a wedding that you can DIY, but make sure that you accept help offered and let go of the little things that can over-complicate your special day. We’ve heard many people say that you should take a moment on the day and just take everything in. This is too true, it is important not to be overwhelmed and just take a moment or two to cherish what your wedding day is all about.
