I Propose – Elaborate on how the two of you met
High school sweethearts…We started dating after Hannes (groom) was the school play coach and I was leading role. We had our ups and downs, decided to part and found each other again as friends on a mission trip visiting 10 countries in a period of 80 Days! Hannes proposed that following July on Table mountain – how romantic – and jip we are still madly in love after 2 months of marriage!
Bride & Prejudice – Express some memorable experiences you had during the planning
Wow, so many of them!! Hannes asking me to start over on the mission trip in Portugal…a very special memory! The whole mission trip, sleeping on mattresses on the floor, eating interesting foods and experiencing different cultures! Hannes and I also had the privilege to start our own business in 2012, a doggy parlor called Ultimate Pet Care. Working and learning together was very challenging but the best way to get to know each other even better, being humble together and doing something you have a passion for really unites you even more!
My Fair Wedding – Describe an event that you feel was unique
Amazing and unforgettable. I was ready to get married like an hour before time and i could not wait to say yes to the man of my dreams! Everything was amazing! We got married under the warm African sun and later got blessed with an African thunderstorm. We all danced up a storm and had amazing conversations! The wedding was relaxed and informal and fun and everything we wanted it to be! We had 250 guests and everyone enjoyed every part of it, from the popcorn confetti to the delicious proudly South-Africa potjiekos.
Don’t Tell The Bride – Reveal something that happened behind the scenes
Everything went pretty well…the rain sort of caught us off guard but the guests made it fun and everyone had to squish together to not get wet under the tent. This is more a story of ‘do not tell the guests’… but Hannes only told me the night before the wedding that we indeed decided on doing the personalized vows…so i quickly Googled a few nice words to say. I was too tired to think of anything myself but I meant every word I said!

Just try to accept the fact that you cannot do everything yourself and allow people to help you as much as possible! Try to stay calm all the time and don’t allow small things to upset you, it’s going to happen anyway but if you focus on staying calm it might be easier! Laugh as much as you can, look for the blessings and beautiful things during the period of planning your wedding and the wedding day itself. Just love your hubby always, even though he is wrong – you chose him! And can I add, something that made our wedding day a blessing…pray it really works!
