A tale of two lovebirds can only be captured to express the real emotion and activities of what happens on a wedding day. This feature depicts a love story of Earl and Delyse’s special day. The day of the wedding was met with lots of sun and heat as it was a typical KZN summer day. Earl and Delyse had their wedding day planned at the beautiful Thorner Country Estate. What is lovely about that venue is the massive stone chapel, face-brick reception and cut lawns that extend down the valley. It is also known for its beautiful architrave of Pine trees at the entrance as well as the broken down stables in the backyard.
The flowers and wedding details were provided by Carryn who runs her own business from home. She did a beautiful job incorporating rose gold with green, pink, yellow and white flower arrangements. She custom designed a table setting stand out of plumbing copper piping and suspended a mini leaf arrangement over the main table.
The dress was custom made to fit Delyse like a dream. Delyse chose to stick to the classic wedding designs but without all the hoops making the dress lighter to wear. She chose sleeveless as it gets so hot in Durban and that way she would remain cool yet stay elegant.
The Groom and Bridal Prep went very well as they both got ready at the venue. There was also no Bridal Retinue to worry about giving me more time with the Bride and Groom. I could see Earl’s nerves kicking in as he waited anxiously and in expectation for his bride. Delyse was also full of nerves yet remained calm and collected. At the ceremony, Earl’s eyes remained fixed on Delyse’s beauty as she walked down the aisle and the vows were met with plenty tears coming from both of them as they dedicated their lives to each other. The worship was anointed and the Presence of God was so tangible. Pastor Clive Gopaul gave a great sermon about not giving up on your marriage and working at your marriage together to make each other happy.
At the creative, I was spoilt as it was the first time I was given 3 hours to shoot a creative on just the Bride and Groom! I was spoilt not only for choice but also it was easy with Earl and Delyse’s chemistry that they had for each other! Any pose I placed them into was always filled with awe and some magic called love. We walked around the whole of the estate and ended off at the dam near the bottom of the valley.
At the reception there were two phrases that stuck out to me, mentioned by Delyse’s brother. “Earl, Many brothers ask the question if their sister’s boyfriend is worthy enough for their sister’s hand in marriage? And I can proudly say that you are more than qualified!”
And secondly, “What strong men need in their life is a strong woman. Strong women are stubborn and hard to control but they give their man everything he needs and has never thought he needed. Delyse is a strong woman”
The food was completely amazing and was served as a buffet homemade ice-cream and yummy cake for dessert.
All the rose gold, green and white colours emanating from the day gave the wedding a very real touch of elegance and wealth as well as a feeling of growth and stability. It was on the border of vintage yet still classy.
All the service providers lived up to their name, from the live band leading fantastic worship to God to the DJ and his cues to the food that was served. Everybody made the day flow so easy.
