Is there anything more exciting than celebrating newlyweds while welcoming the new year? Shaula Greyvenstein shared Christelle and Johan’s beautiful New Years wedding with us.
Lovebirds | How did you two meet?
We first met at the Kirkwood Game Festival in the Eastern Cape, but it was love at second sight when we saw each other the following weekend at a party and danced the night away!
I said Yes | How did the proposal go down?
We visited the Arniston Hotel in Waenhuiskrans for a weekend get away. We posed for a self-timed photo at the most Southern Tip of Africa, where the Indian Ocean meets the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Agulhas. A very nervous Johan struggled to retrieve the small box from his pocket as he went on one knee. I was very suprised and I said YES!
The Big Day | Tell us the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
We were very worried about the infamous wind in Jeffrey’s Bay. While monitoring the wind strength for a week before the wedding we never anticipated that a heatwave would hit Jeffrey’s Bay on the day of the wedding. We were blessed with a wind still day, but had to enjoy the ceremony outside in the scorching 38 Degrees Celsius sun.
The moment we said YES and our first dance on The Story of Brandi Carlile was breathtaking. The venue was stunning, the flowers were like a fairy tale and the bridesmaids looked gorgeous, everything exactly as I wanted it to be.
But if I have to pick just one favourite moment, it would be having all our family and friends join us with sparklers in counting down to the New Year, and the spectacular fireworks show in our honour as we entered 2016.
I Quote | Describe in one sentence your wedding day
A dream come true and magical fairy tale on the scorching hot New Years Eve of 2016!
Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides
My advise would be to stay calm and delegate as much as you can. Don’t be bothered by and worried about other people, it’s your special day to enjoy.
