Lovebirds | How did you two meet?
We met through mutual friends, I was invited to a new years eve party in 2008 which ended up being at Tracey’s parents’ house. We got each others numbers and just stay in contact. Over the years we helped each other with each other’s relationships and any issues we may have had. And early 2013 the stars lined up and we found each other were finally both available and we started off slowly… Took me two years, I then knew… She was the one.
I said Yes | How did the proposal go down?
I planned the proposal 4 months prior and did the traditional thing and sat her parents down and asked for their daughters hand in marriage. There were many tears and three conditions: 1) I had to love her as much as her dad loved her mom. 2) Adore her as much as her dad adored her mom. 3) cherish her as much as her dad cherished her mom. Deal!!!
So I went off and designed Tracey’s ring, kept it a secret and planned a holiday to visit my dad in Knysna where I got my knee dirty on the beach under an amazing sunset… And here we are!
The Big Day | Tell us the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
The wedding band was a complete surprise (Tracey had no idea she was one). I was given a brand new watch as a surprise. The choreographed dance was a surprise for all our guests!
I Quote | Describe in one sentence your wedding day
Our wedding represented the simplicity and the beauty in nature.
Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides
Get as much done in advance as possible!!! Be realistic with your budget. Don’t get caught up with your thoughts on what others are going to think of the day, remember the day is for you, your marriage, not a design event for a crit. If anyone offers to assist you with anything, even something small, allow them.
