It is such an honor to be able to feature the work of the amazing team from Figure of 8 Photography. They are sharing their wedding of Bennie and Meinke with us today and what a stunning wedding it was. The couple had their reception on a floating boat at the Riverside Sun Resort. Their decor was done by the team of Bee Wise Decor, and this team really put together something spectacular. Enjoy this wedding with us today and we hope that you will be inspired by Ben and Meinke.
I Propose | Elaborate on how the two of you met or on how the proposal went down.
We were both at a stage in our lives where we gave up on the idea of finding our “Hapily Ever After”. We went away with a mutual friend at which stage we didn’t even know the other existed yet. At the meeting point we everyone came together we greeted each other and shared various glances of awe, not sharing a single word, until it was time to pack our bags and hit the road to Bela-Bela. As per normal I was very shy towards Meinke because that’s in my nature to be shy towards the person I like most. Duh!
Later that evening Meinke was making “braai” broodjies and I tried to help. She was very hostile towards me for some reason. I confronted her as to why this is the case. She threw me with a spatula exclaiming how I can ask such a stupid question and asked surprisingly how I cannot see the obvious in front of me. She liked me too! We then spent a lot of time together for the rest of the weekend and I realized that this lady had a warm and loving heart despite of the flaming actions that led me to know her better. I fell madly in love with this amazing woman!
Bride & Prejudice | Express some memorable experiences you had during the planning.
We decided to make an e-invite in the form of a small video and on the final draft I showed Meinke the clip and she loved it. The first photo of a table layout we saw at the wedding venue was the one we opted for as it looked exactly how we imagined it. Liquid Lounge did an awesome job with making the venue available and went above and beyond of what was required of them.
My Fair Wedding | Describe an event that you feel was unique or even funny.
One of the unique things of the wedding was that it was on a house boat and the guests really enjoyed it. Comments were flying around in appreciation. Guests felt like they were being treated to a luxury boat cruise for their attendance. A whole table of guests didn’t arrive, but luckily they didn’t as we forgot to place a couple of other people.
Don’t Tell The Bride | Reveal something that happened behind the scenes.
We probably had to switch ceremony locations five times before it started due to the rain. It was planned to be outside but the rain set in and we had to carry chairs and the gazebo up and down. Minutes before the wedding the confetti vase was knocked over and shattered in to pieces. Some of the guests were on their knees to help clean up the mess.
No More Wedding Woes | Share your wedding advice for future brides.
Take leave from work of a minimum of two days before the wedding (the longer the better). Go through the effort to arrange a rehearsal with your bridesmaids. Although it might seem as to much effort, create your own playlist for the DJ. Make sure the décor and florist people know exactly what you want and follow up with them. Let them send you a picture of what you’ll be getting.
