Lovebirds | How did you two meet?

We met through a mutual friend at Dagbreek, Stellenbosch.

It definitely wasn’t “love at first sight”, but after meeting the second time – in Tiger Tiger, Long street (believe it or not), I knew that I needed to find out more about this guy. Shortly after we began dating, and before we knew it we were together for 5 years.

I said Yes | How did the proposal go down?

The day of our engagement, we took the cable car up Table Mountain, and hiked down through Skeleton George. There were plenty of weird and uncomfortable moments, but I never thought he would pop the question. Things got even weirder when he took out his Go-Pro and asked me if I “maybe” wanted to spend the rest of my life with him, which followed him going down on one knee; and on top of Table Mountain he made me the happiest girl in the world.

The Big Day | What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

It is very difficult to say which moment was the most memorable, there were so many. The whole day was very special!

If I may mention a few, it would be when my grandfathers walked me down the isle. The first time I realised that  S.A. wasn’t my boyfriend or fiancé anymore but my HUSBAND! Also, the unforgettably biltong and droëwors cake my parents made was definitely something to remember!

Describe your wedding day in one sentence

It was really important to S.A and I that people could see US in our wedding. He was part of the wedding planning process and arrangements, and without him the day of my/our dreams wouldn’t have come true.

When I look back to our big day, I think about how happy we were, how much we enjoyed it together, how we looked at each other and how I realised that this really was what I dreamt of my whole life.  Our wedding was an absolute ball and we daydream about it every day, it was by far the best day of our lives.

Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides?

The engagement and the wedding itself goes by so quickly. Enjoy every moment. Make your fiancé part of the wedding, just like it is YOUR special day, it is HIS special day as well. Take care of each other and listen to each other, respect each other and love each other; be your spouse’s best friend.
