We are so excited to share this gorgeous wedding with you by I do Photography at The Nutcracker Country Wedding Venue. We just adore everything about this wedding, the pair did the décor themselves, and it looks gorgeous!
Lovebirds | How did you two meet?
We met during 2011 (as second year students) at the NWU Potchefstroom Campus. We were both part of the university’s sub committee for RAG week. It was love at first sight. For the duration of our studies we only had eyes for one another.
I said Yes | How did the proposal go down?
My ring is the most special part – it is the same ring my father proposed with to my mother in 1985 (no changes was made to the ring). He set up a romantic scene in his flat with over 50 candles, our favourite food and dessert and back ground music. It was so special and romantic. I was in tears and the first word I could get out was “I didn’t even put hand cream on my hands”. After the formalities we ate and there after phoned the family. Everyone was overjoyed.
The Big Day | What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
Our wedding was in Parys at The Nutcracker on the banks of the Vaal river. There was now cell phone reception and the celebrations already started the Friday after noon. Everything was very relaxed and laid back up until the time my wedding dress didn’t want to close. The buttons at the back kept coming undone. My mother literally stitch me up (which by the way she had to cut open at the end of the wedding). The church ceremony was intimate and very special. We read our own wedding vows to each other and Nicholas’s cousin sang a special song in the church just for us. The reception was a party from the start till half past 5 Sunday morning. We entered into the new year with our own fire work show and champagne thereafter the celebrations continue. Our main goal was not for everything to be perfect but for us just to enjoy everything.
Describe your wedding day in one sentence
It does not have to be perfect – you just need to enjoy it
Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides?
DO NOT spend a lot of money on stuff no one will remember afterwards. If your food and DJ are tops everyone will be happy. Enjoy every moment because it goes by in a flash. Don’t worry that everything has to be perfect – JUST ENJOY it. It is you and your husband’s special day, ignore comments from other people and plan the wedding of YOUR dreams – your family and friends will have their own turn.
