Adrian Shields Photography shares this amazing story with us today for our Just Hitched section. The couple’s specialty is calling each other nicknames and they incorporated this into their wedding to make it even more fun, therefore Mr. & Mrs. Pants.
Tell us about your theme of the Wedding
Pants wedding was a crazy, colourful day, full of fun and entertainment! We wanted our wedding to be one that would be hard to forget. We themed our wedding “The Pants wedding” – which is Mark and my nickname for each other and it’s well known to all our family and friends. We had various pants names as our tables – from “Pantaloons”, to “Sweat Pants” and “Granny Pants”. We had a lengthy engagement so it gave us (well…I say us, but I really mean me – haha) loads of time to plan and focus on the small things, which to me, is what makes your wedding truly yours. We wanted to ensure that our guests felt taken care of, so gave a lot of thought to filling the gaps during the day.
Give us some background on the décor
I love designing and making things by hand, so I created most the decor and visited plenty markets and charity shops around London for odd teapots, vases, books etc. For inspiration, I used Pinterest (which is darn addictive), and visited plenty blogs and wedding sites (Rock ‘n Roll Bride, Green wedding shoes, wedding chicks, Etsy weddings). I took various elements I loved, threaded them together and made it our own :)
What about your supplier team
I had a clear idea about certain things I wanted, so I created PDF mood boards for all our awesome suppliers, who I am sure are all PDF’d out, haha! We really had a great team involved who helped make our day an absolute pleasure. Debbie Montague (ETC Events), our wedding planner, was incredible and made sure we did not have a thing to worry about on the day and bought it all together. Our catering team, Tracey from Whole Foods, took our ideas and created a tailor made menu (a gourmet burger bar – yum yum!) that was raved about by all our guests! Brendon Funnell, from The wedding DJ, kept all our feet-a-dancin’ with his tunes (and played all our kind of music!). Adrian and Jaimie were amaze-balls, we had such a fun and crazy time on our photo shoot, they made us feel so comfortable and in turn we could just be ourselves. We sourced plenty of crazy props for our shoot, we really wanted non-wedding wedding photos, and they made them all work so beautifully.
What was your favourite part of the day
We are not sure we could really pin point our most favourite part of the day. I know it is all special, but we just had so many moments that filled us with such excitement and happiness. Here are some of our moments… dancing down the aisle, wearing a horse’s head and a donkey mask, biting pants (Mark), our entrance jump, standing facing the crowd who all had sparklers as our first dance song was building up, firefly photos in the dark, being the last to leave. Wow, it was such a wonderfully happy day!”
