Oh wow! This beautiful wedding was submitted by Cathé Pienaar Photography. We just love how gorgeous this wedding is. The flowers bring so much life to the beautiful simplistic décor.
Congratulations Malan and Marteli!
Lovebirds | How did you two meet?
We actually met twice…The first time we met was at a pancake evening that Malan and his friends hosted at Dagbreek, their men’s residence in Stellenbosch. With Malan baking pancakes, we only had a short conversation where we realised that we were going on the same hiking trip with the university’s hiking club (BTK) that winter holiday. It so happened that we were divided into the same car, but funny enough Malan did not remember our first meeting so this was meeting number two! Hiking together in the beautiful Keerom Mountains, a seed was planted for our friendship which grew into our love!
I said Yes | How did the proposal go down?
Malan made a ring from wire and string. On a Friday afternoon in early spring, we were both sitting on the steps in front of Harmonie, my women’s residence in Stellenbosch. It was one of our favourite spots to spend time together when Malan came to visit. On this occasion, he carried the ring he made me. Sitting side by side on the this September afternoon, we talked and laughed like so many times before. As his visit drew to an end, he started speaking of his love for me and the next moment, he was on his knee and asking me to marry him! Of course I said yes!
The Big Day | What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
The day was filled with so many many memorable moments. It was the day we shared our first kiss, something we will always remember. After the ceremony, we went to the top of the mountain for some photos. Away from the crowd and with a breathtaking sunset, we shared a very special moment, taking in the beauty of creation and the preciousness of being husband and wife.
Describe your wedding day in one sentence
“Taste and see that the Lord is good.” – Psalm 34:8
Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides?
I would like to encourage future brides with a verse. It comes from Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
