Lovebirds | How did you two meet?
Hein and I worked for sister companies and we met a few years ago during Fire Marshal training which we were both nominated for. I had absolutely no idea why anyone would trust me to take charge if anything is on fire, but, I went anyway. Looking back, I know exactly why I had to be there.
I said Yes | How did the proposal go down?
We were on holiday together in Coffee Bay in the Eastern Cape. Hein decided to take me to The Hole in the Wall which is south of Coffee Bay for some sightseeing. The Hole in the Wall is magical, it is a natural arch that takes the form of a hole pierced through a wall of sandstone and shale by the waves of the sea located at the mouth of the Mpako River. We walked for what seemed like forever, in awe of our surroundings, until he finally stopped. He took both my hands in his, got down on one knee and he proposed. That moment was the beginning of the rest of our lives. We have been inseparable ever since.
The Big Day | What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
The wedding ceremony. We had an emotional, heartfelt, spirit filled wedding ceremony with the most powerful vows. Those were my most memorable moments.
Describe your wedding day in one sentence
“I can’t believe we pulled it off!”
Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides?
Pray for your husband, pray for your marriage.
Remind yourself to stay focused on your relationship with your husband, he is the one that matters the most. After all, it’s about the marriage, not just the wedding day.
You are going to have disagreements, but choose to love each other, even in those moments when you struggle to like each other.
Love is a commitment, not a feeling.
When it comes to family and friends, be open to recommendations, but set clear boundaries.
Don’t sweat the small stuff! Don’t allow small mishaps to get in the way of your happiness. Things may not go exactly as you envisioned but you must step back and focus on the big picture – it’s your wedding day!
Cherish every moment!
