Today we are featuring this pretty wedding by Open Image Photography. The wedding was classically styled white and silver with purple and pink accents. The bride looked gorgeous in her classic lace wedding gown!
Congratulations Edwin and Nicole!
Lovebirds | How did you two meet?
We met 2 years ago while Edwin was in Johannesburg to attend his brother’s wedding. At this time he was still working and living in Richard’s Bay. We instantly had a connection and chatted for 4 hours when we first met..! 2 Weeks later over Easter, Edwin flew back to Johannesburg to spend time with me. His flight was at ten o’ clock at night, and I was profoundly touched that he would make all that effort to see me again! During that weekend we both realised that something special was happening! Over the next 6 months we had a long distance relationship, until Edwin was granted a transfer back to Johannesburg.
I said Yes | How did the proposal go down?
In May last year, we went to the Mount Grace resort in Magaliesburg for a weekend. After a relaxing spa day, Edwin surprised me with a picnic, during which he proposed! The staff were fantastic, and decorated our picnic area with rose petals in the shape of a heart. It was a day we would never forget!
The Big Day | What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
We wanted to put our personal stamp on our special day by incorporating things that were important to both of us. We used photographs taken at our engagement shoot as part of our table menus. Music is a vital part of our lives, and all our song choices were picked very selectively to convey our feelings and to enhance the romantic mood. The song “The Prayer” by Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion was selected for our church ceremony during our signing of the register as it literally is a prayer, asking for guidance and strength during our marriage journey. As a thank you gift to our guests we had Alan Simpson, the amazing caricaturist, draw everyone’s portraits.
Describe your wedding day in one sentence
We knew we wanted our wedding to be soft and romantic, and above all timeless and elegant.
Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides?
Decide what is most important to you and spend your budget accordingly. For us, the photo’s and album were vitally important as these are the only things you will have that will serve as a reminder of your special day. We opted to spend more on these things than on decor, flowers etc. Choose a venue that offers a good wedding package, as this will include a lot of small things that you might have to pay for elsewhere. We also decided to keep our guest list to a minimum as we wanted a cozy and intimate wedding with those nearest and dearest to us.
