Today we are featuring Douglas and Lee-Ann’s gorgeous Lavandou wedding by Lilly Leigh Photography. The pair said their “I do’s” under the trees with all their loved ones by their side. Read their sweet story below:
Lovebirds | How did you two meet?
Funny story, Doug and my brother are best friends. Doug has been around my family since I can remember. We always got along so well and we were always doing things together as a group of friends as well as us two just hanging out. We were always laughing together and had the best times. Eventually the stars aligned and we started dating.
Side note: Doug asked my father twice if he could take me to a wedding as his companion and my father being so strict said no on both occasions because I was too young. The 3rd time he asked for my hand to take to our very own wedding and my dad FINALLY said YES, 3rd times the charm.
I said Yes | How did the proposal go down?
We went on a Christmas vacation to the Western Cape where we stayed on an Nature Reserve with the most spectacular views of the sea and right on the side of a mountain. Douglas took me for a romantic dinner and brought me back to an area in the estate that had a little chapel where they filmed the Cadbury’s advert years ago, the sun was setting as it sets quite late on the coastline and he went down on bended knee and asked if i would do him the honour of being his wife.
The Big Day | What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
Our first dance – we spent 2 months learning a choreographed lindy-hop/Swing/Boogie type dance at Dancelot Ballroom & Latin American Dance Studio. It was so much fun for Doug and I to have a place during the build up to the wedding to go and blow off some steam and have fun learning a dance that blew our guests away! It was so memorable and we are still getting compliments about it :). It really set the tone for the evening.
Describe your wedding day in one sentence
My wedding day was the most incredible day I have ever had, it was filled with so much love, joy, happiness and laughter.
Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides?
Make sure you go with the flow, no one knows what its suppose to look like. Just enjoy the process of the day and lean on the people that love you most they want to help. Also do not limit yourself with exact pictures – sometimes it causes more trouble than its worth – suppliers can guide you on great alternatives and also they have great ideas too. Let it be.
I had the best suppliers – all of my suppliers were absolutely amazing. Professional and they all work so well with one another and the venue. My day ran better than I expected and everyone was on point and I think mindfully choosing who you use goes a long way!
