A big congratulations to David and Bella on tying the knot!
Lovebirds | How did you two meet?
I started working at a school as the English teacher in the senior phase. He was the Phys Ed teacher in the junior phase. I was almost shocked at how handsome he was when I first met him and I remember telling myself NOT to fall for him because he had enough of the student teachers swooning over him in the staffroom. Anyways, we carried on with a little chat here and there, nothing really significant. Then one day, during a work function, he whipped out his amazing sense of humour and I was completely done for. We haven’t stopped making each other laugh since.
I said Yes | How did the proposal go down?
We escaped to Lake Naverone in the Drakensberg for our 3 year anniversary- absolutely beautiful. The one morning, he suggested that we go out in the row boat on the lake. I was getting dressed and could see him studying the boat out the window with some intensity. I told him to relax, he wasn’t Jack Sparrow and there was no Kracken in sight. We got into the boat, he managed to row out and told me to look at something. When I turned back he was on one shaky knee in the middle of this teeny boat. I shouted yes and then caught the giggles all the way back to shore! Amazing!
The Big Day | What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
The best part of our day was a little moment we shared together, just after our photo’s and just before we entered the reception. We both sat there and toasted each other, taking it all in. It really does go by so quickly but the thought of being able to share your life with your person, your lobster, your soulmate sort of makes the whole “do” pale in comparison a little bit. It was awesome to take that moment and really appreciate what the day was all about.
Describe your wedding day in one sentence
Celebrating love, lovers and lusciousness!
Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides?
Try to have general ideas, rather than very specific ones about the day. The more pedantic you get about the little things, the more of a nervous wreck you become! If you have a lot of family and friends, make sure you there is enough accommodation at your venue before you select it. Oh, and go for a tasting! Remember, the day is about you and your partner, the rest is background noise. Listen to people’s opinions and advice but go with what you feel happy with. There will ALWAYS be someone ready to grumble so you might as well do what you want anyway!
